Stony Creek "Back To The Beach" Half Marathon - 10k - 5k

2016 Race

Well the 2016 “Back To The Beach” saw a first when it snowed most of the morning.  It was a truly memorable morning for over 1700 registered runners, who enjoyed the cooler temperatures, and 350 volunteers who didn’t miss a beat.

Together with the help of our Wonderful Sponsors we raised over $25,000 again to help support many wonderful charities, groups and trails improvements. Medals 4 Mettle received a check for $5,000.  Runners in the “D” have made the Detroit Chapter of Medals 4 Mettle their own and we hope you are very proud of the fact that later this year we will gift our 5,000th medal to a child somewhere in southeast Michigan.

When the race was first conceived we never thought we could say after just 6 races that together we have gifted out over $135,000 to groups, charities and trail improvement projects!!  Several local charities received BIG checks (see picture below) which included The Great Lakes Burn Camp, Special Dreams Farm, Michigan Transplant Team, Macomb County Special Olympics, The Boys and Girls Club of Washington Township and the Friends of the Paint Creek Trail.

Thank You to all of you who participated this year and we hope to see you again next year on May 21, 2017 for the 7th Annual Stony Creek “Back to the Beach” Half Marathon 10k and 5k.  OH – and maybe a new fun race on Saturday May 20th.
