Stony Creek "Back To The Beach" Half Marathon - 10k - 5k

THE 4th ANNUAL – BACK TO THE BEACH RACES – RAISED OVER $25,000 IN TOTAL ONCE AGAIN!

Again we had over 1800 registered runner and volunteers who attended the 2014 Stony Creek “Back To The Beach” Half Marathon 10k and 5k on May 18, 2014. It was a wonderful COOL day to run. Thanks to all of you who signed up to run or took time out of your day to volunteer our little race was able to present over $25,000 in donations to many wonderful charities, groups and trails improvements. Medals 4 Mettle received a check for $7,500. We are very proud that our Detroit Chapter of Medals 4 Mettle is one of the top fundraisers for the group worldwide. We supported many new local charities this year which included The Great Lakes Burn Camp, Special Dreams Farm, Running Blind and Conquer Cancer while still helping The Michigan Transplant Team, Macomb County Special Olympics, The Boys and Girls Club of Washington Township and local Boy Scouts. New for 2014 was to send almost 50 local runners thru Certified CPR Training. So many coaches, members of several local running and mountain biking clubs and everyday runners have now been trained to help make running a little safer for us all. Finally, we helped again to fund trail improvements that everyone can enjoy. The water fountain on the Paint Creek trail was installed, new mile markers posts were installed around the lake at Stony Creek Metropark and a memorial bench is going up along the Clinton River!
